Cabinet Decision CAB-19-MIN-0245: Proposed Overseas Travel: Governor-General (June 2019)

Extract from Cabinet Minute CAB-19-MIN-0245 Proposed Overseas Travel: Governor-General

On 27 May 2019, Cabinet:

1 noted that the Governor-General will be absent from New Zealand from 3 to 8 June 2019 to lead New Zealand’s representation at the United Kingdom commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Landings;

2 noted that the Governor-General will be accompanied by the Official Secretary and an Aide-de-Camp from Government House;

3 noted that the Governor-General will also be accompanied by two Personal Protection Officers, whose travel expenses will be met from Vote Police;

4 noted that the total cost of the visit for the Governor-General’s party from Government House to the United Kingdom will be approximately [withheld under section 9(2)(f)(iv)];

5 noted that the travel costs of the Governor-General’s party will be met from the appropriation under permanent legislative authority in Vote Prime Minister and Cabinet for the travel expenses of the Governor-General under section 14 of the Governor-General Act 2010;

6 noted that in the absence of the Governor-General the Chief Justice, Rt Hon Dame Helen Winkelmann, will act as Administrator of the Government.
