This includes:
- providing free and frank advice to the Prime Minister on constitutional issues
- providing policy advice to the Prime Minister and Cabinet on a wide range of complex issues and supporting the operation of Cabinet and Cabinet Committees
- ensuring advice across agencies and entities is coherent and takes account of all relevant viewpoints
- coordinating emergency management responses in a major disaster
- dealing with national security threats and advising on cyber security
- leading and coordinating central government’s role on the regeneration of Christchurch
- managing public sector performance, alongside SSC and the Treasury
- providing support services for the Governor-General
