Websites of agencies carrying out CERA's functions
The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) was established on 29 March 2011 as a government department, to lead and coordinate the Government's response and recovery efforts following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. On 18 April 2016, CERA was disestablished and as Christchurch moves from recovery to regeneration, local and central Government are focusing on creating new partnerships and supporting the shift to local leadership.
However, some of the work previously done by CERA was transferred to:
Land Information New Zealand — completing demolitions and land clearances (mainly in the Port Hills) and interim land management in the residential red zones.
Ministry of Health and Canterbury District Health Board — providing support and services via the Community in Mind Strategy and Shared Programme of Action, and for monitoring and reporting on community wellbeing, including the delivery of the Community Wellbeing Index and Wellbeing Survey.
Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment — supporting the remaining residential rebuild and monitoring the public sector rebuild.
