Royal Commission of Inquiry Coordinated Response
On August 2nd, 2024, the Government announced the Royal Commission of Inquiry Coordinated Response had concluded. Any remaining work to address the Royal Commission of Inquiry recommendations will be completed by the responsible government agencies. You can find the implementation status of all 44 recommendations below.
The aim of the Royal Commission of Inquiry Response was for a diverse, inclusive, and safe Aotearoa New Zealand. A number of initiatives have been implemented since March 15 to ensure New Zealand is safer and more secure – and that work will continue. You can read about some of those initiatives below.

Royal Commission of Inquiry Report
After the March 15 terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain (places of worship), the Government set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate whether public sector agencies had done all they could to protect the people of New Zealand from terrorist attacks and whether more could be done.
The report of Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCOI) into the terrorist attack on Christchurch masjidain was released on Tuesday 8 December 2020.
The report, Ko tō tātou kāinga tēnei, made 44 recommendations covering both national security, and wider social and community matters. You can read the full report, and its terms of reference on the Royal Commissions’ website.
