The Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration (formerly the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery), the Hon Gerry Brownlee, has received the draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan from Waimakariri District Council.
The preparation of a draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan was directed in September 2015 by the Minister under section 16 and 19 of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011.
The draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan was developed by the Council in consultation with the community and with support from Environment Canterbury, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority and the Greater Christchurch Group within the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
The draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan has been publicly notified in The Press on Wednesday 3 August 2016.
Written comments on the draft Recovery Plan are being accepted up to 5pm, Thursday 1 September 2016.

Pursuant to section 20 of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011 (continued in force pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Greater Christchurch Regeneration Act 2016) the Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration (formerly the Minister for Canterbury Earthquake Recovery) gives the following notice:
Waimakariri District Council has delivered the Draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan to the Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration.
The Minister supporting Greater Christchurch Regeneration invites members of the public to provide written comments on the Draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan, in accordance with section 20(3)(b) of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act 2011.
Written comments received by 5pm, Thursday 1 September 2016 will be considered by the Minister when deciding whether to change, withdraw or approve a Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan.
The draft Waimakariri Residential Red Zone Recovery Plan can be viewed, and written comment forms are available, on the webpage www.dpmc.govt.nz/future-use, the Greater Christchurch Regeneration Facebook page and at Waimakariri District, Christchurch City and Selwyn District Council offices, service centres and libraries during normal business hours from Wednesday 3 August 2016.
