OPEN FOR WRITTEN COMMENT:
A PROPOSAL FOR AN ORDER IN COUNCIL UNDER THE CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL REINSTATEMENT ACT 2017
Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Limited – the joint venture company delivering the reinstatement of Christ Church Cathedral – has proposed that an Order in Council (Order) be made under the Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Act 2017 (the Act).
The proposed Order would modify the process for resource consent applications under the Resource Management Act 1991 for reinstatement work on the Christ Church Cathedral (the Cathedral).
An Explanation Document can be viewed on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s website at: www.dpmc.govt.nz/cathedraloic
The Explanation Document sets out:
- an explanation of what the proposal is intended to achieve;
- a description of the proposed effect of the Order; and
- an explanation of why I consider that the Order is necessary or desirable for the purpose of this Act.
Pursuant to section 10 of the Act, I invite the public to make written comments about the Document. Written comments must be made by 5pm Monday, 22 June 2020.
I must have regard to the written comments received in making a recommendation on the proposed Order.
Copies of the Document and written comment forms are available on request at: Christchurch City Council service centres and libraries, and the main office of Selwyn and Waimakariri District Councils, during normal business hours.
