The deadline for lodging Cabinet and Cabinet committee papers is 10am on the Thursday before the meeting.
When a public holiday falls on a Friday (Good Friday, Matariki, and sometimes Waitangi Day, Anzac Day) the deadline for lodging Cabinet and Committee papers is brought forward by one day, and so is 10am on the Wednesday before the meeting.
If any Cabinet or Cabinet committee papers are unable to be lodged in CabNet or with the Cabinet Office (if papers are highly classified) by 10am, then Cabinet Office must be notified of that the paper is expected to be lodged, and a late paper email request must be sent to the Cabinet Office. Contact details for the Cabinet committee Secretariat can be found in CabNet, or contact the Cabinet Office.
While the Cabinet Office aims to publish summary tops and to distribute papers to Ministers two days before the Cabinet committee meeting, this is not always possible. Priority is given to the distribution of Cabinet papers on Thursday and Friday before Cabinet on Monday.
Advance planning is necessary to ensure that all deadlines are met. The timetable of Cabinet and Cabinet committee meetings is available on CabNet, and CabNet alerts are sent out about changes to scheduled meeting times.
