Commemoration medals
The New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal
Instituted by Queen Elizabeth II by Royal Warrant dated 9 February 1990. The 1990 Medal was awarded only during 1990 to 3,632 selected persons in recognition of the contribution they had made to some aspect of New Zealand life, especially the various 1990 celebrations. The 1990 Medal (designed by the New Zealand Herald of Arms) was struck in bronze-gilt metal by the Royal Australian Mint. The reverse bears the official 1990 symbol, a kotuku, white heron, designed by Fred Graham and Roy Good. The 1990 Medal was accompanied by a certificate bearing the signatures of the Sovereign, Governor-General and Prime Minister.
The New Zealand Suffrage Centennial Medal 1993
Instituted by Queen Elizabeth II by Royal Warrant dated 1 July 1993. The Suffrage Medal was only awarded in 1993 to 544 selected persons in recognition of their contribution to the rights of women in New Zealand or to women’s issues in New Zealand or to both. The Suffrage Medal (designed by the New Zealand Herald of Arms) was struck in bronze, with an antique finish, by the Royal Australian Mint. The Suffrage Medal was accompanied by a certificate bearing the signatures of the Sovereign, Governor-General and Prime Minister.

The New Zealand America’s Cup Medallion 1995
In 1995 the Government struck a special commemorative medallion (which is not designed to be worn) for issue to members of Team New Zealand and others who contributed to the America’s Cup victory at San Diego, USA, on 13 May 1995. Seventy-nine medallions were issued.
