The Global Settlement Agreement follows significant negotiations between the Crown and Council on ownership of key Crown and Council regeneration assets and matters, such as the Bus Interchange and the Crown-owned Residential Red Zone, as well future institutional arrangements and how we transition Christchurch back to local leadership.
It provides greater certainty on how regeneration assets and opportunities will be managed in the future.
The Global Settlement Agreement and Agreement in Principle are available on the Christchurch City Council’s website.
In December 2019, the Minister for Greater Christchurch Regeneration released Global Settlement Agreement with Christchurch City Council – Cabinet and Committee decisions – Proactive release.
In June 2020, the Minister released Global Settlement Agreement with Christchurch City Council – Key advice – Proactive release, which is key advice provided by DPMC, the Treasury and the Christchurch City Council to guide decisions on the settlement.
