CAMPION, Ms Jane
For services to film
Ms Jane Campion is an award-winning New Zealand film director who has been active since the early 1980s and whose work has been defined by compelling depictions of the lives of women outside of society’s mainstream.
Ms Campion received the Palme d’Or at the 1993 Cannes Film Festival for her film ‘The Piano’, the first woman to win the award. Her first short film ‘Peel’ won the Short Film Palme d’Or at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival. At the 66th Academy Awards she was the second ever woman to be nominated for Best Director and received the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for ‘The Piano’. She received international recognition for her feature debut ‘Sweetie’ (1989) and her biographical portrayal of writer Janet Frame ‘An Angel at My Table’ in 1990. Other feature films she has directed have included ‘The Portrait of a Lady’ (1996), ‘Holy Smoke! (1999)’, ‘In the Cut’ (2003), and ‘Bright Star’ (2009). She was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for directing the 2013 mini-series ‘Top of the Lake’. She was head of the jury for the Cinéfondation and Short Film sections at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival and head of the jury for the main competition section for the 2014 Cannes Festival. In 2013 Ms Campion was presented with the New Zealand Arts Foundation Laureate Award.

REBSTOCK, Ms Paula Rae, CNZM
For services to the State
Ms Paula Rebstock was appointed as a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2009 for public services.
Ms Rebstock was appointed to the Board of ACC in 2011 and appointed Chair a year later. She is Deputy Chair of KiwiRail Holdings and a Director of Auckland Transport. She chaired the Work and Income Board and leads the expert panel on the Modernisation of Child, Youth and Family. She is Chair of the Insurance and Savings Ombudsman Commission and a member of the advisory boards of the Auckland University Business School and the New Zealand Defence Force. She is a senior lead reviewer for the State Services Commission’s Performance Improvement Framework, chairs the New Zealand Police Women’s Advisory Network, and was Patron of the Police Recruit Wing 291 in 2015. She is the Financial Performance Auditor for Ngapuhi. From 2010 to 2011 she chaired the Welfare Working Group and she was Chair of the Probation Service expert panel from 2009 to 2011. In 1998 Ms Rebstock was appointed to the Commerce Commission and held the position of Chair from 2003 to 2009.
