Requests for the inclusion of an oral item at a Cabinet meeting due to occur on a Monday should be provided by 10:00am on the preceding Thursday, if possible.

The final close-off time for Cabinet oral items is 4.00pm on Fridays. Urgent oral item requests for Cabinet can be submitted on Monday mornings before the Cabinet meeting if necessary, subject to the agreement of the Prime Minister.

Requests for oral items at Cabinet committees should be discussed with the relevant Cabinet Committee Secretary.

Approval to send an oral item request must be obtained from the responsible Minister before the request is made. The Chair of Cabinet (or the relevant Cabinet committee chair) determines whether oral item requests are accepted or declined.

Copy the form attached in the word document below to notify the Cabinet Office of the Minister’s request for a proposed oral item at Cabinet.
